Artist Statement  "Usually when I try to convince someone from “down south” that Yellowknife is great, I talk about the wilderness, the work-life balance, and the art and music scene. I struggle to describe the city itself. Perhaps the urbanness of a place so remote is inconceivable to people who haven’t seen it. Maybe the appeal of a northern town is in its proximity to wilderness, so that its streets, alleys, and high rises would be an afterthought, if thought of at all. Because I can’t describe what makes me call this city beautiful, I’m drawn to draw it. In this series I hope to showcase the loveliness of this city, as a nod to those who know what I know, as a bid to those who don’t, and as an offering to Yellowknife itself."
